Job Summary:
The Cross Border Specialist (Import) is responsible for managing and overseeing the import operations and ensuring compliance with international import regulations and standards. This role involves coordinating with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and various internal departments to ensure timely and cost-effective importation of goods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all import activities comply with relevant laws and regulations, including customs, import regulations, and international trade agreements.
- Stay informed about changes in import regulations and communicate these changes to relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare, review, and process all necessary documentation for import shipments, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and certificates of origin.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all import documentation to avoid delays and compliance issues.
- Coordinate with customs brokers to ensure timely and accurate clearance of goods through customs.
- Address and resolve any customs-related issues, including holds, inspections, and compliance violations.
- Arrange transportation and manage logistics providers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of imported goods.
- Track and monitor import shipments, providing updates and addressing any issues that arise during transit.
- Monitor and control costs related to import shipping, customs duties, and related expenses.
- Identify opportunities to optimize logistics operations and reduce import costs.
- Address and resolve any issues or disputes related to import transactions
- Provide support to customers and internal teams regarding import inquiries and order status updates.
The requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in import logistics, customs brokerage, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of international import regulations, customs procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and logistics software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
